Elevating Patient Care Through Team Development
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia - July 2026. Great patient care doesn't start in the exam room — it starts with how a team communicates, trusts one another, and shows up every day. With that in mind, we partnered with Manisay Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialty Clinic to design and deliver a full-scale Leadership, Communication and Professional Development Training program for its entire staff, from management to front-desk teams to support staff.
A Holistic Approach to Training
Delivered between June 12 and July 13, 2026, the program brought together every member of the Manisay team — doctors, midwives, nurses, laboratory and radiography staff, finance and reception teams, IT, cleaning, and security personnel — for a structured series of interactive sessions built around four core themes:
Leadership and Communication - from decision-making and operational planning for the management team, to the fundamentals of active listening and patient-centred communication for the wider staff.
Team Building, Trust and Conflict Resolution — practical tools for working better together, resolving disagreements constructively, and building the kind of trust that keeps a clinic running smoothly under pressure.
Professionalism, Confidentiality and Emotional Intelligence — reinforcing the standards of conduct, patient confidentiality, and self-awareness that every staff member, not just clinicians, carries into their daily work.
Customer Service Excellence — redefining what it means to serve not only patients, but families, visitors, colleagues, and the wider community with consistency and respect.
Transformative Learning Outcomes
Rather than one-size-fits-all lectures, our facilitators built each four-hour session around real conversations - case studies drawn from everyday clinic life, group exercises, and open discussion - so that what was learned in the room could be carried straight back onto the clinic floor.
The results speak for themselves. Knowledge assessments we administered before and immediately after each session showed the Manisay team started from a strong foundation, with an average of over 75% correct responses on pre-training assessments. After each session, that number rose to approximately 95% - a clear sign that the training translated into real, immediate learning across every module.
The program didn't stop at the original plan, either. Recognizing that Manisay's non-clinical support staff — the janitorial and security teams who keep the clinic running behind the scenes — deserved a session tailored to their own roles, we worked with the Clinic to add a dedicated tenth session on July 13, focused on customer service excellence for this often-overlooked part of the team.
Every participant, across all ten sessions, walked away with a Certificate of Completion — a small token for what was, in every sense, a full-team investment in how Manisay shows up for its patients and for one another.
"This training wasn't just about ticking a box," said a member of our training team. "It was about giving every single person at Manisay - regardless of their role - the same set of tools to communicate better, work better as a team, and deliver the kind of care and service patients remember."
Looking ahead, we're working with Manisay's leadership on ways to keep the momentum going, from periodic refresher sessions to informal check-ins that help staff keep applying what they've learned long after the last certificate was handed out.
This is the kind of transformation we love to be part of at Tenadam: not just a training delivered, but a team strengthened. If your organization is ready to invest in how your people lead, communicate, and serve, get in touch with us to talk about what a tailored program could look like for your team.
Tenadam Training, Consultancy and Research PLC thanks the management and staff of Manisay Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialty Clinic for their trust, openness, and full participation throughout this program.
